Sen. Beth Liston (D-Dublin), who is serving in her first term in the Ohio Senate after serving three terms in the Ohio House of Representatives, will be a keynote speaker during the ODA Leadership Institute on Friday, March 21.
In addition to serving in the Ohio Senate, Liston is also a physician. She earned her MD and PhD at The Ohio State University and subsequently trained in internal medicine and pediatrics at Yale New Haven Hospital. Since that time, she has worked clinically as a hospitalist caring for adults and children in the inpatient setting. She is a professor of clinical internal medicine and pediatrics with significant involvement in medical student education and advocacy.
Liston first ran for office in 2018 to bring a better understanding of the impact of policy on health and wellness to the Ohio General Assembly. She is passionate about ensuring access to affordable high-quality health care for everyone, public education, economic opportunity for all Ohioans, and a state government that works for people.
Sen. Liston is the ranking member on the Health and Medicaid Committees. The ODA’s Executive Director David Owsiany said “we are excited to have Senator Liston speak at our Leadership Institute. She has been supportive of many of the ODA’s legislative priorities, including reforming Ohio’s dental Medicaid program, the Dentist and Dental Hygienist Compact, and the dental insurance non-covered services reform legislation. I am sure ODA members will benefit from hearing Dr. Liston’s unique perspective as a legislator, educator and practicing physician.”
In addition to Liston’s keynote address, the 2025 Leadership Institute will also feature sessions on:
- Strategies to enhance the effectiveness of dental office teams and keeping staff motivated and satisfied.
