The ODA Executive Committee, which is made up of the association’s officers, holds an annual retreat to plan for the coming year and host an orientation for any new officers joining the Committee. This year, the Executive Committee retreat was held in July in Southern Ohio near South Point, which is the hometown of 2024-25 ODA President Dr. Hal Jeter.

Jeter said the retreat serves an important function by allowing the officers to get to know one another, review important policies and governance matters, and plan for the coming year.

Among other things, the ODA’s leaders met with local government officials, including State Rep. Justin Pizzulli (R-Scioto County) and South Point Mayor Jeff Gaskin, who presented the Executive Committee with a Proclamation declaring July 25, 2024, to be Ohio Dental Association Day in South Point, Ohio.

The Committee also visited Shawnee State University’s Dental Hygiene Program and had a discussion with the program’s leadership following a tour of the facilities. Jeter said, “there are so many challenges and opportunities facing the ODA and the dental
