ODA ANNUAL SESSION A GREAT VALUE WITH COURSES FOR THE ENTIRE DENTAL TEAM
The 2024 ODA Annual Session is Sept. 12-14 in Columbus at the Greater Columbus Convention Center and the Hilton Columbus Downtown Hotel.
“ODA Annual Session is a great value for dentists and their team,” said Dr. Steve Moore, 2024 ODA Annual Session general chairman. “All members of the dental team can earn required CE and attend courses, shop the Exhibit Hall and enjoy special events. Plus, when you attend Annual Session, you’re supporting the association and its mission. We have an exciting meeting planned this year, and I hope to see you there!”
Annual Session will offer 37 in-person CE courses to choose from, with options for dentists, specialists and all team members.
“We have strong courses for every member of the dental team, whether you’re looking for hands-on workshops, required courses, wellness topics or bread and butter courses like how to improve case acceptance, we have something for everyone,” said Dr. Kyle Jackson, 2024 ODA Annual Session CE chairman.
Courses aimed at dentists include topics like restorative, dental materials, hands-on workshops, wellness courses, practice transition and a strong selection of specialty courses aimed at general dentists such as endodontics and pediatrics. ODA Annual Session will also feature programming to assist dentists in securing the education necessary to satisfy the DEA mandate, which requires DEA-registered practitioners to complete 8 hours of training on treatment and management of patients with opioid or other substance use disorders.
Annual Session also features strong workshops and courses for hygienists, including a hygiene masterclass that will be a straightforward, comprehensive refresher course for hygienists. The popular Preventive Products Roundtable Breakfast for hygienists will also be back this year. Additionally, online courses will feature the hard-to-find educational courses required for hygienists to participate in the Oral Health Access Supervision Program (OHASP).
Workshops and courses will also be available for dental assistants and EFDAs, as well as courses for front desk staff and office managers.
Other popular courses for the entire dental team include healthcare-provider CPR and topics like case acceptance, stress management, how to handle mistakes, and technology like AI.
Dr. Paul “Nacho” Goodman, a renowned speaker and influencer, will be presenting three in-person CE courses, an online course and will moderate the Dental Influencers Panel, where a group of dental social media influencers will discuss current trends and hot topics in dentistry.
In addition to in-person courses, dentists and staff will have access to up to 23 hours of online CE, free with the cost of registration.
“The Annual Session Committee is committed to offering at least 15 hours of free online CE every year included with the cost of registration, which will allow dentists to earn all 30 hours needed for their license renewal every two years if they register for Annual Session both years during the biennium,” Moore said. “This year, hygienists will be able to earn all 20 hours they need to renew their license through our online CE.”
The ODA Annual Session will also feature an expansive Exhibit Hall. More than 150 companies are expected to be on-site at the ODA Annual Session Exhibit Hall.
In-person Exhibit Hall Hours:
- Thursday, Sept. 12 from 12 to 6 p.m.
- Friday, Sept. 13 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Saturday, Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“The Exhibit Hall will give attendees a chance to view new products and comparison shop all in one place,” said Dr. Lauren Czerniak, senior exhibit chairman of the 2024 ODA Annual Session. “Not only is it a great place to see and buy new products and equipment, but the Exhibit Hall will feature special events and free lunch on both Friday and Saturday.”
The Manufacturer’s Showcase will be back again this year and allows companies to easily demonstrate and provide educational Q&A about their specific products. Attendees have the opportunity to touch, feel and experience everything from various dental materials, equipment and products.
Annual Session will also feature special events, where attendees can enjoy time with friends and colleagues. Popular events include The Bash! featuring casino games and prizes on Friday, Sept. 13, Wine & Dine at Martini Modern Italian featuring a chef-selected dinner served with four wine pairings, and events for new dentists and dental students.
