ATTENDEES TO SELECT TOPICS FOR LIGHTNING TALKS AT UPCOMING ODA LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE

The 2025 ODA Leadership Institute has another amazing lineup of speakers and programming planned for next month’s annual event.

Dr. Robert Faiella, who is a past ADA president and the chief dental officer of one of the leading Artificial Intelligence platforms in American health care, will give a keynote presentation on Artificial Intelligence and its applications to dentistry. Among other things, Faiella will discuss how dental AI can now identify anatomy and disease with incredible levels of precision, and present findings with compelling visuals for patient communication.

Jeff Butler, a renowned author and leading workplace strategist in exploring human behavior within the working world, will present a keynote address and lead a breakout session. He draws on research related to the motivations, differences and communication styles of various living generations, including Baby Boomers, Generation Xers, Millennials and Generation Zers. Butler will share strategies on how to meet the various generations’ needs and expectations. These strategies will help make your team more effective and efficient and also provide insights on how to approach patients from different generations to ensure their comfort and satisfaction.

The ODA’s advocacy team will discuss recent and pending legislation and regulations impacting on dentistry in Ohio. State Sen. Beth Liston (D-Dublin), who is a practicing physician in addition to serving as a legislator, will provide an update on what she sees happening at the Ohio Statehouse related to health care and other issues.

The ODA’s Director of Dental Services Chris Moore, who has more than 35 years of experience in dealing with the dental benefits industry, will share his insights into recent trends in dental insurance during a breakout session. The ODA’s Speaker of the House Dr. Kelly Roth will also host a breakout session along with the ODA’s Director of Governance Michelle Blackman on the basics of parliamentary procedures and an introduction to the structure of organized dentistry.

State and national dental leaders will also be on hand to discuss the latest trends in dentistry both here in Ohio and nationally and answer your questions.

This year, the Leadership Institute is doing something a little bit different by seeking your advanced input into the issues that will be covered during the program. When you register to attend the 2025 Leadership Institute, you will be prompted to suggest a topic or ask a question that you would like covered during the “Lightning Talks” session. Based on those topics submitted, we will arrange to have experts available to briefly discuss the most commonly raised topics or questions. We are seeking your input into the “Lightening Talks” session in order to allow us to prepare in advance to address those issues the attendees are most interested in hearing about.

The goal of the ODA’s Leadership Institute is to provide educational sessions that will enhance any dentist’s leadership skills for use in any setting, and, as you can tell, this year’s program will be a valuable and information-packed event. A program like this would normally cost several hundred dollars to attend, but the Leadership Institute is free for ODA members, and you can earn up to four CE credits for attending. For more information about the ODA Leadership Institute, which will be held at the Hilton Columbus Polaris Hotel on the north end of Columbus, on Friday, March 21, and the morning of Saturday March 22, click here.

If you have attended before, you already know how valuable this event is. If you have never been to an ODA Leadership Institute before, this is the year to attend. You won’t be disappointed.
