Dr. Paul “Nacho” Goodman will be presenting four classes at the 2024 ODA Annual Session and will be moderating a new special event this year, the Dental Influencers Panel.

Known as the “Nacho Dentist,” Goodman is a renowned speaker who captivates audiences with his dynamic and engaging presentations. He is a practicing dentist and founder of Dental Nachos, a continuing education and professional development company for practicing dentists, dental students and dentist office team members.

“Just like our company name, Dental Nachos, I’ll have a nacho plate of courses to help you do three things: increase success, decrease stress and reduce the number of times you feel like crying inside a day,” Goodman said. “The number one KPI is the number of times you feel like crying in a day. You’re doing full contact arts and crafts for people who do not want to be there. My courses will teach you how to survive, thrive and not cry.”

Goodman will be presenting “ABCs of Patient, People, and Team Communication” from 2-4 p.m. Sept. 12. See Course Code T17.

“I believe words are a system just like preparing a crown or bonding a veneer,” Goodman said. “Everything that matters needs a system and everything matters. Always be clear. In this course we’ll break down words that help you create clarity, help you create confidence with you and your team, and improve patient communication.”

On Sept. 13, Goodman will present “Confusion is the Killer of Case Acceptance” from 9-11 a.m. See Course Code F25.

“Nothing can happen in your practice without a patient saying yes to treatment,” Goodman said. “Oftentimes, teams think it’s about money, but it’s really about confusion – not understanding treatment, time or cost.”

This course will help dentists and their teams educate and move people forward with their dental care “so all of us can smile more and cry less,” Goodman said.

On Sept. 14, Goodman will present “Seasoned-Aged Dentists Looking to Sell, Baby-Aged Dentists Looking to Buy & Exhausted Medium Aged Dentists” from 10 a.m.-noon. See Course Code S45.

“This course will help dentists navigate the four biggest decisions in their career: finding a job, buying a practice, hiring an associate and selling a practice,” Goodman said. “The goal is to get dentists, teams and spouses to pay attention and not make catastrophic career mistakes. This course aims to help you maximize your success and minimize stress.”

Goodman also will be presenting an online course, “The Life Changing Impact of Dental Implants.” See Course Code O75. Online courses are free with the cost of registration and will be available Sept. 15-Dec. 31.

“Everyone who has worked in a dental practice has had a patient who’s looked at them and said ‘I just want to let you know I hate going to the dentist,’” Goodman said. “We have to share things that are annoying, expensive and time consuming with patients. Dental implants are life changing and help people chew, which in my personal studies show, chewing and eating food is pretty much people’s favorite thing to do. We can transform people’s lives from using a denture that flops around like a fish and they’re afraid to smile because it might fall out at family parties. With dental implants they can feel like they have their ‘real teeth’ again.”

Goodman says his goal as a speaker is to provide attendees with actionable content that’s easy to implement in their practice.

“I want people to be able to think big picture in treatment planning their dental life for maximum happiness,” he said. “Too often, we care too much about our patients’ smiles and not enough about our own smile. Your smile matters too. I want attendees to be able to maximize their happiness as they move through their career.”

Goodman said his favorite part about attending and presenting at dental conventions is meeting dentists and seeing old friends.

“I share constantly that being a dentist can be very lonely, so I love the camaraderie, friendship, learning and laughing,” he said. “I’m motivated and inspired by my colleagues doing amazing things. At meetings like this you can learn, laugh, feel less alone, learn about technology and have an awesome time.”
