Management of acute odontogenic pain is accomplished through a clinical approach that successfully incorporates both opioid and non-opioid analgesics. However, moderate to severe dental pain often occurs well after office hours so it is critical to be able to accurately identify a patient's need for pain control, develop an individualized pain management plan and assess the efficacy of analgesic agents employed. This program will provide strategies for effectively managing dental pain with opioid and non-opioid analgesics and analgesic adjuvants, while also mitigating associated risks. Clinicians are often apprehensive or hesitant to perform Endodontic treatment, and this hesitancy derives from a lack of confidence in their knowledge, skills, and armamentarium. In this hands-on and interactive course, we will discuss all the Endodontic fundamentals - spanning from diagnosis to management of emergencies, to case selection for success, to complication management. Ninety percent of crowns and bridges are now fabricated from a ceramic material according to a report from one of the largest US dental laboratories. Ceramic materials do not handle the same as metal-based restorations and improper selection or handling can lead to premature failure. This course will teach you how to select and handle different types of ceramic materials that are currently used in dentistry that will be much less confusing than typical marketing rhetoric. The ability to bond these dental ceramics allows the practitioner to perform more conservative tooth preparations. The third segment of the Oral Health Access Supervision Program (OHASP) course covers how to recognize significant medical issues and changes in a medical and dental history and in physical findings, including child abuse. How to interpret medical history to identify diagnosis will be explained. Record keeping, reporting for community-based programs, photography, progress notes and history-taking will be discussed. Common oral conditions including those involving hard and soft tissues will be discussed. Normal and abnormal oral lesions will be reviewed.OHASP Course Objectives: c); e); f)
