Leadership Institute has many opportunities for young dentists

Greetings! In looking forward to Spring, I would like to urge you all to attend the ODA Leadership Institute, to be held April 12 and 13 at the Hilton Columbus Polaris Hotel. Having attended the meeting myself for the last five years, it is something I always look forward to. As a young dentist, it provides opportunities to network with other young and more seasoned dentists, in addition to meeting and asking questions of the leaders in organized dentistry in Ohio. Plus, thanks to the ODA and the event’s sponsors, the conference is FREE to attend for ODA members – another bonus for those of us who are just starting our career, and another benefit to being a member of the ODA. If you are traveling from outside of Columbus, there is even a special group rate at the Hilton for the conference.

This year’s Leadership Institute is going to be wonderful for  new dentists, as the Subcouncil on New Dentists was invited to play a role in the development of the schedule! We paid special attention to topics that would be of interest and importance to new dentists when creating the breakout sessions, and I am sure you will enjoy dental practice management advisor Gary Kadi’s lively presentation on how we can change the way we look at our practices and the practice of dentistry. Additional topics to be covered over the course of this short conference include access to care and legislative issues. Whereas changing regulations may not have a huge impact on dentists who are nearing retirement age, they can certainly change how we will practice in the future, and it is important to be aware of how these things are changing.

I hope that you will look at the amazing lineup of events scheduled for Friday, April 12 and Saturday morning, April 13 and log in to www.oda.org/events or call the ODA at (800) 282-1526 to register. I look forward to meeting many of you at the conference!
