Ohio Dentist Loan Repayment Program

The Ohio Dentist Loan Repayment Program aims to improve oral health in dental health resource shortage areas.

Dr. Amanda Forche (left) works at Holzer Dental Health Partners and began her contract with the ODLRP in February 2015.

This program works with dentists that practice in areas of Ohio designated as having a dental professional shortage by the Ohio Dept. of Health. ODLRP dentists have contracted through this program and agree to provide dental services for patients without regard to the patient’s ability to pay; other criteria are also stipulated through the contract. ODLRP dentists receive repayment for dental student loan debt at pre-determined amounts agreed upon in their individual contracts.

To qualify, applicants must be dental students in the final year of dental school, dental residents in the final year of residency, or currently practicing general or pediatric dentists. Funds are received from dentist biennial registration fees paid in December of odd-numbered years and are awarded every two years.
